This Humboldt farmer has spent thousands of dollars to build a road that allows paddlers to put in below the abandoned REC Cornbelt hydro dam, which has caught and killed some in its undercurrent. Pay a donation, open the gate, reclose it, and find safe passage down to Ft. Dodge.

Directly across from this abandoned but well-maintained structure, there is a gentle incline where the paddler can exit the river above the dam. The portage road is about 50 feet from the shore. There are deer in the greenbelt.
