December 19, 1998 Loading Up the Gear The bend in the river at Keosauqua is the largest on the Des Moines. The kayak is able to hold all the gear needed for a comfortable and safe trip (snacks and drinks, spare clothes, an extra paddle, straps and locks, GPS and cellular phone), but it takes a while to load it all. |

December 19, 1998 I had paddled some 13 miles of the bend from Selma in October. To complete the trip to Bentonsport, I would need to paddle about 4 miles to the north, and another 4 miles to the southeast. |
