North of the Kate Shelly High Bridge
May 1999

Just south of Boone water works, this wooden suspension bridge provides a view of the river bluffs and the very high railroad bridge. An access road runs down to the shore.

Kate Shelly High Bridge, Boone
May 1999

Built after the famous train wreck, this bridge will never be flooded out. This is the world's highest 2 track trestle railroad bridge. Train traffic is heavy, so you can view long freight trains passing more than 200 feet above the river, a paddler's delight.
