Red Wing Access, Looking North . . . May 18-19, 1999 The run from from Ft. Pike is a challenge. The river narrows along this 12 mile stretch, with lots of bends and snags. There is an Illinois Indian encampment excavation (with longhouse) along the Missouri shore. Marquette and Joliet explored these shores in 1673. |
