Monuments to a lost civilization

Between Kalo and Hwy. 20, there are the remains of several railroad bridges. This bridge ends abruptly at the edge of the forest, but picks up again and runs back into the forest on the other side of the river.

Bridge pilings amid the fading colors of the season

Ft. Dodge was once a thriving rail center. The railroads left only these massive pilings as a reminder of the sights and sounds of an elegant civilization that glided above these waters on mighty rails and powerful engines.
