	10.23.99 I can hear the lonesome whistle blow These scenes are too lovely to be seen only by the occasional paddler. Surely the bridges and rail lines could return as multi-purpose trails to be built along the high cliffs.
	10.23.99 Back to reality Rocks, low water, running aground, and lots of traffic on Hwy. 20 break into my reverie. This is the last bit of modern man for many a winding mile.
