| The restoration
effort has been broken down into four phases.
PHASE I: Repair and restore Dam. This is being done by the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors. PHASE II: Install boat ramp, dock, dredge creek area, install restrooms, parking area and lights. PHASE III: Develop park area with: shelter house, overnight and primitive camping areas, put picnic tables and grills around the park, tie in and loop down Three Rivers Trail. Renovate Pump House into restaurant and museum of Rutland and Humboldt County. Further efforts after this will be to help communities up and down river develop areas similar to this. This stretch of the Des Moines River is beautiful and this effort will allow excellent boating, fishing and recreational opportunities for all citizens of Iowa. The estimated cost of this project is $500,000. The committee is asking for donations to help fund this project. If you would like to make any type of donation, please send it to: Email dougwood@trvnet.net
Grants have been applied for to obtain funds but it will be money from the public that will make this project happen. |
