Ottumwa, October 1998

Return to Main Page October 4, 1998

I've been out and about.

Today, I caught the edge of a front that was moving in.  I love  a rainy day on the river, and I got out and rowing by 10 am from Eddyville to Ottumwa, which is about 2 hrs from DSM.  14 miles, 7.5 hours, and a gusty wind from the east made it a challenging but spectacular day.  It only got up to 54, but that was ok.

Al and Janet (brother and sister in law), met me in Ottumwa and helped me pack my stuff.  I went over to their house and had some piping hot coffee.  Then, I recovered the van in a driving rain at Hardfish access and headed home.  I love Iowa.
