Return Seven Oaks is maintaining a water trail on 18 miles of the Des Moines River.  At their own expense they are cleaning up the boat ramps at Boone Waterworks, Boone Hwy. 30 (Riverbend) and Sportsman's Access (Sugar Valley) south of E57 near Luther.

Seven Oaks is a business that rents canoes and offers trips through this area, but they are to be commended for their devotion to the river as a recreational resource.  I'm hoping they will also put up some water trail signs.

I've asked Jeremy to let me know the next time Seven Oaks does a clean-up at Hwy. 30 so we can get some paddlers in there to help.  In the meantime, enjoy this scenic section of the Des Moines River courtesy Seven Oaks.

"Gerry, thanks for the link. Yes we do put it in below the water works dam. You are correct
about River Bend. We have taken upon ourselves to clean up that boat ramp this year. Actually
pulled out a trash compactor on Friday.

The waterworks dam access is ok but not great. It is still just a dirt path to the boat ramp.
There have been some recent discussions between the DNR, Army Corps and Boone County to upgrade
that ramp. We have gone over a few times to grade the area due to the rain and subsequent
rutting.

Seven Oaks has agreed to "sub-lease" the water works, Hwy 30, and Sugar Valley boat ramps. We
have agreed to keep them as clean as we can. If you haven't been to they Hwy 30 ramp this year,
it has dramatically changed. All of the trees between the ramp and the highway have been
cleared as too much trash was being dumped there.

A joint clean up day would be great later this year or early next. Seven Oaks would entertain
any offers that you would have. I will check with Tom on the signs. Thanks again."
